After a short illness, only a portion of which time she was confined to her bed, Eliza Catharine Cooper passed peacefully to her home beyond. On Wednesday she died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Martha Davidson, 3 miles east of town. Eliza Catharine Cooper was born in Warren County, Ind. on March 14, 1838 where she lived until she was married to Joseph Cooper March 1856 and moved to Macon county Ill., where she has since made her home. Two sons were born to them, George W. of Macon County, Ill., and Chas. E. of Wyoming. Aunt Kate, as she was known, was well known in this community. She united many years ago with the Presbyterian Church and just before she died she expressed a hope in Christ as her Saviour. She leaves two sons, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Lyons, Mrs. Jane Wykoff, a half sister Mrs. Emaline Sawyer, two brothers, Joseph and William Miller and two half brothers, James and Harvey Barkley. Aunt Kate was kind and sympathetic and was always ready to assist those in need. She will be missed in many homes and by many friends, where she has given her time and strength in the hour of need. She was 66 years, 3 months and 21 days old. Funeral service was conducted at the home of Mace Davidson early Thursday morning by J. P. Henson, after which the remains were brought to this city and taken on morning train to Macon county, Ill, by her son George for interment.
